Best Racing Drones
On this page you will be introduced to the best racing drones on the market. But first, here’s a little background information of what drone racing actually is.
FPV (First Person View) Drone Racing is a new type of sport that was bound to happen after the release of personal photography drones. It’s nowadays a very popular sport where members spends lots of money and time in order to become the best. In 2016 the first Drone World Championship was being held on Hawaii and had a prize pool of a stunning $100 000 where thousands of pilots engaged in the thrilling courses. One thing you have to know about drone racing is that it comes in two types of ways. First we have the RTF (Ready To Fly). There drones are fully assembled and ready to fly when you open up the box. Second there are the DIY (Do It Yourself). Unlike the RTF’s, these will provide you with everything you need, but you will have to assemble the drone by yourself.
If you’re new to this whole kind of thing I would recommend that you start out with an RTF drone. The DIY drones could take hours, or even days before you can start flying. The RTF’s are also usually much cheaper but are less customizable. For more experienced users I would instead recommend that you build your own drone. They are usually better when it comes to speed and agility, but keep in mind that the price can range from everything between 500-2000$ depending on how good you want your drone to be. On this page you will find the best racing drones that are ready to fly.
Best Racing Drones Top 5 List
Table of content:
5. Walkera Rodeo 110
4. Arris X-Speed 250B v2
3. RISE Vusion 250 Extreme
2. Arris C250 v2
1. Walkera F210 Professional Racer
On the 5th place on this list we find the Walkera Rodeo 110. It’s way cheaper than any other drone on this list and therefore you can’t expect the same amount of quality. I still wanted to add this drone on this list for people who doesn’t want to spend much money on their racing drone. This beginner friendly drone features a 600Tvl HD wide-angle camera which is pretty awesome for a drone of this size. Normal miniature models will only last 2-3 minutes in the air before the battery runs out but thanks to the high powered 850Mah Li-Po battery this drone will last up to 7 minutes! The low charging time makes it possible to fly for long periods of time if you bring more batteries.
The drone comes with 4 propeller guards in order to make it safe to use. This will minimize damage on the props if you crash into something. It weighs as little as 143g including the battery, and is the perfect choice for indoor racing for kids and beginners. Due to its low weight I don’t recommend using this drone outside on windy days.
After you’ve learned to master the Walkera Rodeo 110 you might want to upgrade to a more expensive drone if you’d like to take your pilot skills to the next level.CHECK CURRENT PRICE ON AMAZON
When delivered, this drone is already fully assembled so that you don’t have to start off by reading manuals and connect tiny pieces that never seems to fit – just attach the propellers and you’re ready to go!
A big drawback to this drone is that it doesn’t come with a battery charger. This forces you to buy one separately. Therefore I could only put it on the 4th place on this Best Racing Drones List. However this carbon fiber tower based drone is very fast and persistent and will withstand a lot of crashes. If you plan on buying this drone I recommend that you also check out the Arris C250 v2 before deciding. These drones are very similar to one each other including price. The Arris C250 v2 can be found on the 2nd place on this list.
It features a 700TVL HD video camera that can be adjusted from 0-45 degrees. Not to mention the estimated 10-15 minutes flight time making this drone one of the best in the racing drones category. The S2205 2300KV Brushless Motors are designed purely for speed and agility and will make sure that your opponents will have to give everything they have in order to beat you. Another downside is that it doesn’t provide any FPV goggles, and if this is something you just must have, you’ll have to buy them separately.CHECK CURRENT PRICE ON AMAZON
Unlike any other racing drone this one is not only designed for performance but also for appearance. The usual carbon fiber drone design is not always very appealing with wires, cables, motor and battery all being visible. However that’s not the case for the RISE Vusion 250 Extreme! Now you might think that this drone is ONLY designed for appearance, however that’s not the case. Even though there are better alternatives on the market this one is stil a great choice for the beginner. The best feature about this RTF drone is that it comes with everything you’ll ever need, including FPV-goggles!
So let’s talk about the specifications. It features a 600TVL FPV 30 fps video camera, 4 2280kV brushless motors and a 5.8GHz Raceband video transmitter. With this drone you will never have to worry about any latency and that’s extremely important when racing!. Another great feature about this drone is that it will put off a loud beep if you’d loose contact with it – making it much easier to find.
The price is quite hefty, as any other racing drone out there. Keep in mind that you’re provided with everything you need to start racing. I highly recommend this one if you’re looking for a high performing racing drone that stil actually looks like a drone.CHECK CURRENT PRICE ON AMAZON
This assembled RTF drone is always well-calibrated and pre-flied before it’s packaged. Featuring the latest 5042 propellers this drone has an increased efficiency of 10% than any other drone with normal propellers. Therefore it might not surprise you that this is the 2nd best of all racing drones. The brushless ARRIS X2205 2300KV motor provides an outstanding power and great performance.
The super lightweight carbon fiber frame is specifically designed for power, agility and speed – making it a top tier drone within the racing community. The tower based design protects its most vital parts which minimizes the risk of damage when crashing. I should mention that crashing is pretty much inevitable when racing with a drone.
As it’s almost half as expensive as the Walkera F210 Professional Racer (see below) I would like to put this drone on the first place, but sadly it doesn’t provide any FPV (first person view) goggles which is the biggest drawback about this drone. You can buy the goggles separately but the price will quickly add up. Instead it comes with the popular Radiolink AT9 controller with a live monitor screen. Still it’s one of the absolute best RTF racing drones on the market at the moment and personally I like this one the most.CHECK CURRENT PRICE ON AMAZON
On the first place on this Best Racing Drones List we find the Walkera F210 Professional Racer for a couple of good reasons. The price for this one is above all others on this list and may therefore not be optimal for new racers. However if you’re willing to invest a good amount of money on your RTF racing drone, then this is what you should go for.
This brushless motor drone is tough, agile, fast and is ready to fly right out the box. It’s made out of carbon fiber and features an HD camera with Night Vision making it possible to operate during night. It weighs as little as 370g and the 14.8V 1300mAh 40C 4S Li-PO battery promises an 8-9 minutes flight time.
This drone comes with a pair of 5.8g goggle-4 FPV glasses! This allows you to become the eyes of the drone, putting you in the middle of action. As mentioned earlier this drone is very expensive. But keep in mind that you will be provided with everything you need such as battery, charger, antenna, transmitter, camera and goggles so it may well be worth it if you’re ready to invest the money.CHECK CURRENT PRICE ON AMAZON
